The Bride
Ashley Nettles
It was a Saturday night in Atlanta, GA and Ashley was preparing to spend a night out with close friends to celebrate her birthday. This included an intimate dinner with close friends and partying in a private section at one of her favorite places in Atlanta. Long before the festivities were planned, she notified her close friends of all the planned activities to see who would be attending. On that list of close friends was TK James (this name will be very important later in this story.)
The Groom

On this same night, Lee was hanging out with friends just as he would on any other weekend in Atlanta. However, when TK met up with Lee and friends, he shared with them that his friend, Ashley, was celebrating her birthday and wanted us all to stop by.
TK, Lee, and his crew made their way to Ashley and her group and TK made brief introductions between Lee’s crew and the birthday girl. Everyone was enjoying great music and drinks as they celebrated the birthday girl.
Fated Meeting
As the night continued, Lee and Ashley’s paths crossed as both stepped away from her reserved section. Pleasantries were exchanged for a brief moment but the moment was soon interrupted as her friends urged her to come back to the section and continue the celebration. Their moment had passed and soon after Lee and his friends left to continue their night at another location. However, the following morning an IG follow request was accepted and the two were now connected outside of their brief interaction from the night before.
Build Commitment
Lee moved to Kansas City shortly after that night, but the two continued to converse through Instagram. Lee visited Atlanta often during family trips and holidays. The two tried connecting quite a few times during these visits but were never able to make that happen. (Please see the Bride and Groom for their separate takes on the reasoning. Haha!) As the conversations continued, the two began to form a close bond and friendship. It was not until New Year’s Day of 2020 that Ashley and Lee would finally meet again to grab food at Ton Ton Ramen at Ponce City Market in Atlanta. What was once considered a “meet up”, turned into their first date. This led to visits between Kansas City and Atlanta during the pandemic. A lot of sky miles were used and creative Facetime dates were had.
Starting to get Serious
In 2021, Ashley finally made the decision to move to Kanas City. They spent the next few years enjoying all that Kansas City had to offer and Ashley found her new love for the Kansas City Chiefs and made some amazing new friends that would soon be considered family.
Over the course of their relationship, their love grew with each day that passed and every new adventure they shared together. On December 25th, 2023, during halftime of the KC Chiefs game, Lee surprised Ashley with a heartfelt proposal at her Grandparents’ house.
End up Together Forever
They were surrounded by family members and loved ones alike. It was a moment filled with joy, tears, and an overwhelming sense of love.
Now, as they prepare to embark on this new journey together, they are excited to celebrate their love with all of you. Thank you for being a part of their story and for sharing in the joy of their wedding day.
